Fortunately Cuenca has a lot of gorgeous doors guarding the entrances to hidden courtyards.

Unfortunately I saw them all because the entire city is closed for Carnaval, as residents celebrate with their families.
Some are ornate.
Others simple.
Modern, stacked high above the river walk.
Locked up tight at a clinic offering plastic surgery by the river.
Welcoming corners, if only they were ajar.
Garden gates leading to…llamas.
Enormous marble cathedral doors.
And the intriguing combination of modern bakery next door to Rayos X.
Quaint, charming Cuenca. Please open your doors to me soon.
